Our Ministries and Ministry Opportunities:


Our Acolyte ministry has been reformed and is seeking new recruits. Acolytes participate during our 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays  


Adult Church School

Meets every Sunday Morning at 8:45 AM in the Sanctuary. Our Adult Church School is biblical based and engaging.   



The Altar Guild ministry was established to assist with the preparation of the altar and floral arrangements; to provide the pulpit with pulpit nourishments and refreshments.   



The Benevolent Ministry assists individuals and families of our congregation and community who are hurting spiritually, emotionally or financially. The ministry seeks to serve individuals with prayer, assessment and referral services in order to address their needs in times of crisis.



The ministry engages in community projects that help to build and maintain a solid social and spiritual foundation in the East Austin Undeserved Community and to work in the long term to develop community development projects.



The Hip Hop ministry was designed to entertain, uplift and educate people to

the power of God through Hip Hop.



Monday Morning Intercession is every Monday at 6:00 am. The call-in number is 641-715-0632. The access code is 898496


Ladies in The Making

Ladies in making is a ministry that targets and molds young ladies to become productive women. This ministry also raises funds once a year to provide scholarships for our graduating high school young ladies.



The lay organization has among its many purpose to instill in the membership a love and appreciation for the history, tradition and principals of African Methodism; advocating respect and loyalty to constituted authority; encouraging the support of the total vision of Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church; and fostering systematic and regular study which provides greater knowledge and participation in our church.


Media and Sound Ministry

This ministry serves the audio/video needs of our church. Records all worship services and special events for the purpose of providing quality audio and video mediums for our members, visitors and community.


Men of Valor

The men of Metropolitan meet every 2nd Saturday of each month at 8:00 AM for breakfast and fellowship.


Midweek Celebration

Noon Bible Study every Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM

  • Voices of Praise – 3rd and 5th Sunday

  • Golden Voices – 4th Sunday


Orientation 101

Orientation 101 is new member ministry designed to expose our new members to Christian discipleship, the African Methodist Episcopal Church and their role and function as members of Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church.


Usher Boards

We have five usher boards including our Jr. Usher Board for youth ages 10-18.

  • Albert Williams Usher Board – 4th Sunday

  • Male Usher Board – 2nd Sunday

  • New Generation Usher Board – 3rd and 5th Sunday

  • Senior Usher Board – 1st Sunday

  • Junior Usher Board – 3rd and 5th Sunday


Women 2 Women Ministry

Ministry meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month. A variety of

topics are covered that every woman needs, to meet today’s challenges.



The Praise Dance Ministry’s purpose is to reveal and express the word of God in worship through liturgical praise and dance interpretation.



The Rites of Passage Program at Metropolitan is a skill-based program designed to meet the developmental needs of young men and women and strengthen intergenerational relationships in the church and community.



Stewardesses assist The Pastor and the Stewards in the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. Meetings are held every 1st Saturday of each month preceding Communion Sunday at 10:00 AM.



The Carrie B. Warren Missionary Society is called to strengthen its faith through mission work and to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ by serving others. Meetings are held every 3rd

Sunday immediately after church.


Youth Church

Youth Church meets every 2nd and 4th Sundays. Our young people are led in

worship and praise and taught scriptures on their level.


YPD – Young People’s Division

YPD provides resources, training and guidance that encourages and supports the

development of young people in their spiritual, emotional, academic and social

growth. Meetings are held every 3rd Saturday of the month.





The sanctuary is Holy ground, please treat it as such. 


  1. Please dispose of all gum, candy and food before entering the sanctuary.

  2. Please limit walking upon entering the sanctuary.  Please refer to the bulletin for the information concerning entering and existing the church.

  3. Small children should always be accompanied by an adult when leaving the sanctuary.

  4. Please refrain from excessive conversation while in the sanctuary.

  5. We ask parents with infants to utilize the ball room or nursery to change and/or feed children.

  6. We ask that you limit the use of cell phones in the sanctuary unless you are using it to support your worship experience. i.e. using an online bible, tweeting someone about what’s happening in service.

  7. Please do not walk across the front of the sanctuary during worship service unless you are in an official capacity.

  8. Our church campus is a non-smoking campus (including our parking lots).

  9. Please observe our no weapons restriction signs that are posted on every entry way of all of our buildings. Failure to do so will result in possible arrest and prosecution.
